Competition program
Under the guidance of Athletic Bands Director Bryan Ransom, and Drumline Instructor Michael Atesalp, the group garnered the top score in the percussion independent open division with their program, "Connect, Communicate...(crash)" at the SCPA Finals, held at Great Oak High School in Temecula, Calif.
Drumline history
The indoor percussion activity began in the late 1970s and consists of the marching percussion and front ensemble sections of a marching band, and marries elements of music performance, precision marching and theater.
Competitions are generally performed in school gyms and arenas, with groups performing on large, painted nylon-vinyl tarps that cover the entire basketball floor. Each group is responsible for creating, setting and striking their own floor for each performance.
Competitive groups are held to specific set-up, performance and tear down times, and are judged on criteria that change every season as technology and creativity blossom. These ensembles compete, the musical "sport" is treated as a place to grow together as a community, learn new techniques and enjoy the work done by peers, both locally and nationally.
