Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Linda Lang to the California State University Board of Trustees. Lang, 50, is currently chairman and CEO of Jack in the Box Inc.

Lang has been influential in Jack in the Box's growth and philanthropic interests. One of San Diego's most prominent business leaders, she is a founding member of The Jack in the Box Foundation, also serving on the boards of directors of SDSU's College of Business Administration and the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp.  Lang earned an MBA in finance from the college in 1991.

"Linda is a wonderful choice who brings tremendous business and philanthropic experience to the board of trustees," said SDSU President Stephen L. Weber. "SDSU is proud of her many accomplishments and especially pleased with this appointment."

Lang, a resident of Rancho Santa Fe, will serve an eight-year term as a CSU trustee – which has not had a San Diego-area representative since 2007. The board is responsible for the oversight of the 23-university California State University system. The board adopts rules, regulations and policies governing the CSU. The board has policy authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities and fiscal and human resources management.

"With two CSU universities in the region, it is critical that San Diego be well represented on this important policy-setting board," said L. Robert Payne, president and CEO of Multi-Ventures Inc. and chair of SDSU's Campanile Foundation. "Linda Lang will play an important role working with her fellow trustees to ensure the CSU continues to stand for access to excellence."
