The Cecilia String Quartet, former Joseph Fisch/Joyce Axelrod Resident String Quartet at San Diego State University, captured two prizes at the 2010 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.

For the Prix de la Sacem (for best performance of the commissioned work by Gilbert Amy), the quartet received 5,000 euros. In addition, they were given a bottle of wine, a Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 2001 magnum. It is one of the region's finest, and the quartet was excited to receive such a special prize and lovely reminder of their time in Bordeaux.
