Updated - Don Coryell Memorial Service Scheduled For July 12

Service will begin at 2 p.m. at Viejas Arena

The public memorial service celebrating the life of Don Coryell is scheduled for Monday, July 12, at San Diego State University's Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl, beginning at 2 p.m. PT. The doors to Viejas Arena will open at 1 p.m. and all fans and friends are encouraged to attend.

The ceremony will be streamed live at GoAztecs.com, for those who cannot attend.

The service is expected to last approximately 90 minutes and is scheduled to include eulogies by Fred Dryer, Dan Fouts, Joe Gibbs, Jim Hanifan and John Madden.

In lieu of flowers, the Coryell family asks for contributions to: The Don Coryell Scholarship Fund, in care of The Campanile Foundation, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182-4313.

Additional information for those planning to attend Monday's service:

  • Public Parking will be available on campus at Parking Structure 5 (corner of Montezuma and 55th Street) and Parking Structure 4 as well as lots W, M and K. Handicap parking is available in lots M and K. There is no charge for parking.
  • The only public entrance for the service will be at the top of the Viejas Arena. Gate number two, the main gate beneath the message board, will be open for the public.
  • Individuals may bring water bottles into Viejas Arena on Monday.
