Rob Andrews Means Business
The pre-business sophomore and football player talks about balancing academics and athletics.
SDSU pre-business sophomore and Pleasanton, Calif. native, Rob Andrews, has much more than his studies taking his time—he is also a back-up middle linebacker and special teams player on the Aztecs football team.
Andrews chose SDSU thanks to a full football scholarship and because “San Diego is a great place to live and go to school.”
Balancing football and schoolwork
But life as a football player on a Division I team has its challenges.
“Being a student-athlete is a big responsibility and I have learned to balance my time on the field and in the classroom,” Andrews said.
“San Diego State University has a history of great football players and coaches. I wanted to become part of the tradition and legacy of the Aztecs.”
Going into business
His plans to work in the construction industry in Northern California influenced his decision to major in business. Andrews had originally declared himself a construction engineering major, but a friend with an SDSU management degree, currently working in the industry, persuaded him to go into business.
“I knew that San Diego State University had a great business program,” Andrews said.
“I also have always found business interesting and I think that the financial courses that are required are not only important for the degree, but also for everyday life situations. I am looking forward to receiving a business degree from San Diego State University.”
