Are You the Next Aztec Warrior?

Could you be the next Aztec Warrior? The SDSU Alumni Association is looking for a new Aztec Warrior to represent the university at a variety of events.

Interested student applicants should know that the Aztec Warrior must:

  • Wear the Aztec Warrior uniform to any and all settings requested, while projecting the required image attributes
  • Perform in a pro-active manner to encourage audience participation and enthusiasm at athletic events
  • Be capable of speaking to diverse audiences on matters relating to SDSU, school athletics, Aztec history and culture
  • Be willing to travel with Aztec athletic teams

Preference will be given to:

  • Current San Diego State University students in good standing
  • Those demonstrating an interest in and understanding of SDSU traditions, the Aztec culture and history

The Aztec Warrior is a paid position. Interested students should send a letter of interest to SDSU Alumni Association Executive Director Jim Herrick at [email protected] by Feb. 3. Tryouts are at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center on Feb. 10.

San Diego State University’s affiliation with the Aztec civilization is a cornerstone of the university’s tradition based on the values of intellectual achievement, strength and valor embodied by the Aztecs. Accordingly, the student selected to portray the Aztec Warrior, serving as mascot of the university, shall reflect those characteristics, qualities and attributes.
