San Diego State MBA student, Arash Sani, will attend the London School of Economics Alternative Investments Conference, taking place in London on Jan. 24–25. He is the first student from SDSU accepted to attend the conference.

Tough competition

Sani, who will earn his MBA with a concentration in finance this May, was one of 3,800 students from 122 countries to apply to attend. Of that number, only 350 — less than 10 percent — were accepted.

Among other criteria, students are accepted based on:

  • Academic achievement
  • Industry experience
  • Volunteer activities with finance organizations

Focus on alternative investments

The conference is in its fifth year. The first day of the event focuses on hedge funds and the second day concentrates on private equity.

The educational conference provides a networking opportunity for the top university business students and finance professionals from around the world.

About Sani

Sani is a native of Southern California and plans to pursue a career in private equity and, eventually, venture capital.
