A new half-hour show is taking over the small screen during SDSU Month this March.

The pilot episode of SDSU Insider will on KPBS Saturday March 12 at 11:30 a.m. It will also air on The MTN (3/18, 8:30 p.m. PT; 3/20 2:30 p.m. PT), as well as City TV (San Diego) and County TV (San Diego). The program highlights stories about the people who make San Diego State a dynamic and engaged university. Hosted by SDSU alumnus and local news anchor Artie Ojeda, SDSU Insider can also be viewed online on SDSU’s You Tube channel.

“It’s our hope that SDSU Insider will be a new platform for the university to expose alumni and the community to all of the great things taking place at SDSU,” said Gina Jacobs, SDSU manager of media relations and the program's executive producer. “As a program, we want to give San Diegans an ‘inside look’ at who and what makes the university tick.”

First episode features Weber, veterans and basketball

The pilot episode features a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of SDSU’s retiring President Stephen L. Weber, as well as an interview with him and his wife Susan. It also features a story about one of SDSU’s student veterans who went from the battlefield to the classroom and is now helping other returning veterans do the same.

In addition, the show features a segment about the men’s basketball team, including an interview with head coach Steve Fisher and senior point guard D.J. Gay.

Stay tuned

Future episodes are being planned in coordination with the September 2011 launch of SDSU’s comprehensive fundraising campaign.

The program is produced by SDSU Marketing and Communications in coordination with KPBS.
