Several members of the San Diego State men's and women's tennis teams earned all-Mountain West Conference accolades this season.
The awards were selected by the conference’s head coaches and announced last week in advance of the conference championships.
Seven student athletes honored
The seven honorees included two singles players and one doubles tandem on the women's team, and two singles players and one doubles team from the men's team, including:
- Julia Trunk (singles)
- Julia Wais (singles)
- Roxanne and Sierra Ellison (doubles)

- Giovanni Vaglietti (singles, doubles) and Hunter Nicholas (doubles)
Women's team accolades
Trunk and Wais are the Aztecs’ top two singles players, while Roxanne and Sierra Ellison are the No. 1 singles duo in women's tennis at SDSU.
Trunk, a senior, was voted one of the league's top singles players for the second straight season and is one of four repeat all-MWC winners. This is the first career award for Wais, a native of Germany. Roxanne and Sierra Ellison were one of seven pairs recognized in the conference.
Men's team highlights
Vaglietti played at No. 1 singles in all six of SDSU’s Mountain West contests this season and finished 3-3, while Pulgar started league play at number three singles, but moved his way up to the No. 2 spot after three consecutive victories against TCU, New Mexico and Air Force.
Vaglietti and Nicholas served as the SDSU men's team No. 1 duo and finished the season strong with consecutive doubles victories.
