SDSU President Elliot Hirshman praised Michael and Christine Packs’ “powerful vision for supporting students” as he officially named SDSU’s International Business Suite in their honor.

Longtime donors to the university, the Packs’ most recent gift of $500,000 will support SDSU’s nationally ranked international business program, an undergraduate course of study jointly administered by the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Business Administration.

Increased opportunities

Specifically, their gift will increase opportunities for scholarships and internships as well as study abroad experiences at one of the international business program’s 35 partner universities around the world.

The Michael and Christine Pack International Business Suite is located in the College of Arts and Letters.

Integrating business and language studies

SDSU's international business program integrates business, foreign language and area studies to prepare students for business professions in diverse cultural and linguistic environments. In addition to a rigorous set of business courses, students study one of 10 modern languages and one of five world regions to prepare for a required semester abroad.

Student lives transformed

Michael and Christine Pack, 1970 graduates of SDSU, have also supported the College of Engineering and Venture Challenge, SDSU’s international business plan competition, in which student teams vie for a $15,000 first prize to seed their business venture.

At today's ceremony, President Hirshman referenced the Packs' previous gifts, which, he said, have "transformed" the lives of more than 200 SDSU students.
