Rivalry Renewed
SDSU and Fresno State seek a trophy design for the winner of the renewed annual football game.
The SDSU Alumni Association, along with the Fresno State Alumni Association have announced a challenge to the alumni, students and fans of both schools to select an appropriate iconic trophy to be awarded annually to the victorious university in the schools' renewed rivalry football game.
The winner will receive an iPad.
How to submit a design
Nominations can take the form of suggestions and/or designs. A description of the trophy of less than 50 words should accompany the entry. Finalists will be posted on each alumni association's website. To submit a nomination, visit the SDSU Alumni Association website.
The contest will run through 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17.
The judges
A committee comprised of an equal number of representatives from each school's alumni and athletic departments, along with CSU alumnus and Trustee Bob Linscheid (Chico '76,'79) will select the finalists. Feedback via the websites is welcome and encouraged.
About the rivalry
SDSU and Fresno State were both members of the Western Athletic Conference until SDSU joined the Mountain West in 1999. FSU will join the Mountain West Conference next season, but the teams will renew their rivalry this season on Dec. 3 at Qualcomm Stadium.
The Aztecs own the series record over the Bulldogs at 26-20-4. The last time the two teams faced each other was in 1998. SDSU won 10-0.
