Dalai Lama Emissary to Discuss Compassion, Meditation
The Venerable Lama Tenzin Dhonden will visit campus March 14 to preview the Dalai Lamas San Diego symposium.
SDSU will host a lecture March 14 by The Venerable Lama Tenzin Dhonden, personal peace emissary for His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, on the meaning of Compassion Without Borders— the theme of the Dalai Lama’s two-day San Diego symposium in April.
Human compassion
The emissary's presentation will take place 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center, where Lama Tenzin will share his views on how to practice compassion in daily life.
The lecture will cover the strong idea of self and impermanence in Tibetan Buddhism philosophy. He will also speak on how practicing meditation connects people with universal humanity.

About Lama Tenzin Dhounden
Lama Tenzin, chair of the Compassion Without Borders organizing committee, was appointed the Personal Emissary of Peace for His Holiness The XIV Dalai Lama in 2005. In that role, he plans programs and initiatives for the Dalai Lama.
With more than 30 years of monastery training, Lama Tenzin has completed extensive studies on Buddhist philosophy and trained under the personal guidance of the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India.
About Compassion Without Borders
SDSU will host the final of three major public events in San Diego for His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama’s Compassion Without Borders symposium.
During his visit, the Dalai Lama will share his views on climate change, peace and justice, and universal ethics and compassion. San Diego marks the second stop on his 12-day North American tour.
