Preparing for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
An expert panel will discuss, April 3, how attendees can get the most out of their Dalai Lama experience.
This month, thousands of San Diegans will have the opportunity to hear from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama when his Compassion Without Borders tour stops at three San Diego colleges, including San Diego State University.
To help people get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, the SDSU Department of Philosophy is holding a panel discussion in preparation for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s visit from 6-8 p.m. on April 3 in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
About the panel
The “Ethics Beyond Borders” discussion will focus on cosmopolitan ethics, politics and compassion with honored guest The Venerable Lama Tenzin Dhonden, Personal Peace Emissary to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Panelists include:
- Sandra Wawrytko will discuss the Dalai Lama and ethics in Tibetan Buddhism.
- Tom Weston will discuss political philosophy and ethics.
- Steve Barbone will discuss ethics with or without compassion.
- Mark Wheeler will moderate the panel.
The event is free and open to the public. Visitor parking is available in Parking Structure 5 by purchasing a visitor permit from the pay machine.
