San Diego-area teens can leap toward their futures this summer with San Diego State University’s Teen CAMPX Career Exploration Academies. SDSU’s College of Extended Studies will offer nine exciting summer day camps from June 25-Aug. 10.

Ranging from two to five days each, the Teen CAMPX Career Exploration Academies provide teenagers entering grades 9-12 with opportunities to:

  • Connect with experts
  • Aspire to new heights
  • Make new friends
  • Practice real-world career skills
  • Explore new options for your future

About CAMPX

Local industry experts will guide you in exploring some of today's hottest careers such as engineering, video game production, crime scene technology, health care, law, TV news production, film-making, entrepreneurship or culinary arts.

In each camp, you'll go behind-the-scenes, gain hands-on experience and get insider advice on the knowledge and skills you'll need for success in the field of your choice. You can also attend multiple camps to explore a variety of different career interests.

The camps are offered weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SDSU's Extended Studies/Gateway Centers on the corner of Campanile Drive and Hardy Ave.

Each Career Exploration Academy includes career-related hands-on activities, a tour of SDSU’s campus, and a behind-the-scenes experience to meet experts in the field (considered a great introduction to developing networking skills). In addition to gaining fun summer enrichment that looks great on your college applications, you will earn a certificate of completion, enjoy a pizza party the last day of camp, and will be able to tell your friends, “I’m going to SDSU this summer.”

Comments from previous campers

“One of the most exciting and interesting things about this camp was being handed a project similar to a real game designer.”

“I had a lot of fun and got a much wider perspective of the different careers in the health care field. This camp made me want to want to become a nurse. Thank you!”

“Best weeks of my summer are always at CAMPX!”

“It was through my internship (at KPBS) that I learned about SDSU’s College of Extended Studies and specifically their TV New Production Camp. I could not have asked for a more amazing week. I can say that my internship with KPBS has taught me a lot about the behind the scenes work, but this week long camp gave me the chance to be an anchor myself and experience the feeling of being in front of a camera on the set of Channel 6.”

“The most interesting thing about this camp was learning what drew people to choose the job they did and learning if you’re the right type of person for a certain career.”

This is an SDSU Research Foundation Program.
