GreenFest Goes Live
Support from the Presidents Leadership Fund and other donors funds a live-stream online video of the annual festival.
“This would be a huge event for professionals,” said Tim Powell, professor in the School of Theatre, Television and Film and advisor to the group dubbed Aztec Entertainment. “It's unprecedented for a university to tackle this kind of an event — it's all student-produced, student-run. They're in charge of all the creative aspects and all the elements of the program.” This Saturday’s live-stream will give the 20-student production team hands-on experience streaming GreenFest, an event planned by and for students by the Associated Students Cultural Arts and Special Events board. “The President’s Leadership Fund supports projects that will launch new innovative ventures, and increase learning opportunities on and off campus to support student success,” said Christina Kawai, director of the SDSU Fund. The PLF assisting in funding a successful GreenFest is just one example of how the university engages the San Diego region, a key initiative of The Campaign for SDSU. Whether it’s supporting programs that contribute directly to San Diego's growth or building academic programs to prepare for the region’s future, SDSU is an important community partner.
