New art depicting environmental motifs will be displayed at the County Operations Center, courtesy of San Diego State art professor Gail Roberts.

The art consultant of the Commission of Arts and Culture of San Diego selected and purchased three of Roberts’ pieces that will be permanently displayed in the County Operations Center.

“I was honored to be selected,” Roberts said. “There are a number of artists commissioned to do pieces integrated with the County Operations Office, and the fact that they chose mine was very exciting.”

The paintings

Two of the selected paintings are from her “Reservoir” collection. They represent how much humans rely on water, as well as the dichotomy of storing water found naturally in an area. Both of the paintings showcase reservoirs found in San Diego.

The third is among a collection of paintings called “Arrangements” showing the tops of trees.  The pictures show that despite repeating a subject over and over again, there is always something different, representing that nature is always changing.
