SDSU education credential student, Katie teaches third grade during the week, but on weekends she puts on a different hat, rallying millions of San Diego sports fans.

Katie, a recent SDSU liberal arts graduate, is one of two Fox Sports San Diego girls.

“I’ve always loved sports growing up, but also have a huge passion for kids,” Katie said. “I’m just happy to have the opportunity to be a part of two things I love.”

Fox Sports San Diego

As an ambassador for Fox Sports San Diego, Katie engages with fans at games and community events. She sees her experience in the San Diego sports spotlight as a way to open new opportunities for her.

She also credits Fox Sports San Diego with improving her professionalism as a future educator.

“When you’re teaching in a classroom you’re with little kids, but you do have to interact with the parents, colleagues and principals on a consistent basis,” Katie said. “I meet people from all different regions in marketing and finance every week, and interacting with them helps me on a very professional manner and not just a kindergarten language.”

A teaching future

Katie looks forward to a career as a kindergarten teacher.

“I want to take all the opportunities I get through Fox Sports San Diego and then start teaching kids,” Katie said. “There’s something about teaching and seeing students get so excited when they learn to read or write that’s so exciting for me.”
