U.S. News and World Report released its annual ranking of graduate schools this week, naming more than a dozen San Diego State University graduate programs among the nation’s best.

SDSU’s graduate business program ranked 86th in the nation, putting it in the top 50 for public business schools and in the top 10 in California.

“This high national ranking is a testament to the exceptional quality of our faculty, staff and students,” said Dr. Michael Cunningham, dean of SDSU’s College of Business Administration.

In other categories, SDSU’s highest ranked graduate program was rehabilitation counseling, in the College of Education, which ranked ninth in the nation.

The Rehabilitation Counseling program trains students to help individuals with physical, emotional or mental health disabilities improve their quality of life, leading to greater levels of self-sufficiency.

Other programs ranked in the top 50 include speech language and hearing services (25th), clinical psychology (26th), audiology (27th), and nursing-midwifery (29th).

SDSU graduate programs ranked in the top 100 include: psychology (52nd), healthcare management (54th), social work (60th), education (65th), public affairs (73rd), fine arts (72nd) and biological sciences (92nd).

The nursing, engineering and chemistry programs were also ranked.

“America’s Best Graduate Schools 2014” was released online on March 12. U.S. News & World Report analyzed more than 1,200 graduate programs for the rankings, which are published annually. Complete rankings are available online.
