The Dalai Lama spoke at San Diego State University, University of California San Diego and the University of San Diego in April 2012 as part of the two-day “Compassion Without Borders” symposium. As a result of the symposium ticket sales and sponsorships, a $51,000 gift was presented to the Monarch School to support a new student leadership program for students impacted by homelessness.
