Mortar Board Taps Students for Membership

Selection for the prestigious honor society is based on scholarship, leadership and service.

The Jane K. Smith Cap and Gown Chapter of Mortar Board visited classrooms donned with caps and gowns to welcome 40 students out of more than 2,500 who were eligible for membership. 

Selection into the prestigious honor society is based on scholarship, leadership and service.  Each student who was tapped, the society's term used to represent a formal induction, received a certificate and a "I was Tapped for Mortar Board" shirt. 

Initiation was held on Sunday, April 14 at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.

Students applied to the society with an SDSU faculty letter of recommendation, along with a detailed application and essay.
