And Track and Field Makes Eleven

The Aztecs finished with 182 points, easily outdistancing runner-up New Mexico's 145.50. It was SDSU's second MW outdoor crown in school history (2003) and third overall (also 2013 indoor). Colorado State (89.50), UNLV (83) and Nevada (78) rounded out the top five.
San Diego State's Shelia Burrell was named the Women's Coach of the Year, while Allison Reaser was picked as the meet's Most Outstanding Performer.
LaQuisha Jackson won both the 100 meters and 200 meters, while Reaser (100 hurdles), Deyna Roberson (400 hurdles) and Shanieka Thomas (triple jump) also claimed individual titles. Thomas, Maderia Toatley, Roberson and Jackson also captured the 4x400-meter relay in 3 minutes, 35.41 seconds, which ranks sixth all-time with the Aztecs and broke a Sheila Tarr-Smith Field at Myron Partridge Stadium record.
"We wanted to win with big performances and we were able to do that," Burrell said. "I have to credit my staff for this win because each event area showed up prepared to compete. The athletes did a great job of making (the staff) look good."
Jackson won the 100 in a wind-aided time of 11.31 and claimed the 200 in 23.23. The 23.23 was the second-fastest time in program history, only trailing SDSU legend Tonette Dyer's 22.34 in 2004.
Reaser ran the ninth-fastest 100 hurdles time of 13.41 for the win and was third in the 400 hurdles (59.08). Reaser also won the heptathlon, which finished on Thursday, for the third consecutive year. The 400 hurdles win was the eighth MW title of her career.
Roberson took first in the 400 hurdles in 58.36, the third-fastest time in school history.
Thomas, meanwhile, continued her dominance in the triple jump, winning the event with a leap of 46 feet, 5 ¼ inches (14.15 meters). That broke her MW record, set a MW meet record, school record and stadium record. Additionally, it is the best mark in the country. Coupled with yesterday's victory in the long jump and today's wins in the triple jump and 4x400 relay, Thomas now has seven career MW titles, including each of the past four triple jumps (2012-13 indoor, 2012-13 indoor).
Alex Evans finished second in the triple jump with a PR of 42-09.00 (13.03m), which ranks fourth all-time at San Diego State, and came in fifth in the 100 hurdles in a PR of 13.80.
A day after winning the pole vault, Kristen Brown took second in the 100 hurdles (13.60).
Jasmine Burrell, who yesterday won the discus throw, took fourth in both the shot put (49-03.00 (15.01m)) and the hammer throw (186-11 (56.98m)), respectively. The latter was the second-best mark in program history.
Other individuals who scored on the final day of the four-day meet include Renetia James (fifth, collegiate-best 55.63) and Nicole Oudenaarden (seventh, collegiate-best 56.22) in the 400, Josefine Koskinen (sixth, 2:10.17) and Chelsea Kruthers (seventh, 2:11.06) in the 800 and Karsen Sper in the 100 hurdles (eighth, 14.18).
The 4x100 relay, meanwhile, of Antonique Campbell, Toatley, Thomas and Jackson finished eighth in 47.47.
The conference championship was the SDSU athletic department's 11th of the 2012-13 year (also women's soccer (regular season and tournament), football, volleyball, swimming & diving, women's basketball (regular season), indoor track & field, men's tennis (regular season), women's tennis (regular season)) and softball.
