Oggi’s has signed a Letter of Intent to join Aztec Student Union in spring 2014.

As part of the agreement, the company will operate its first fast-casual restaurant, dubbed Oggi’s Pizza Express. The location will also be the first Oggi’s on a college campus.

“SDSU is our first on-campus location and it is the first Oggi’s fast casual site,” explained company vice president Estella Ferrera. “We did that on purpose because we’ve been wanting to go in this direction for a while and we’ve always wanted to pilot this at SDSU.”

Aztec family

The family behind Oggi’s has close ties to SDSU — Oggi’s President George Hadjis currently teaches a franchise management course in the College of Business Administration and his daughter, Ferrara, received her MBA from SDSU in 2009.

“We’ve always wanted to pilot this at SDSU.”

According to Ferrara, the SDSU location will feature personal pizzas, wraps and salads priced at an affordable $7.50. This will allow the Union location to serve customers quickly during lunch and dinner service, while highlighting the Oggi’s menu. The restaurant will also feature a variety of Oggi’s award-winning micro-brewed beer and other craft beers, along with a wine menu, Ferrara said.

Joining the SDSU community

Ferrera looks forward to working with Associated Students to produce programming on the exterior patio stage, the SDSU community to host viewing parties for Aztec games and partnering with the College of Extended Studies on its certificate program in the business of craft beer.

The sports-themed Oggi’s restaurant chain has locations throughout Southern California and Arizona. For more information, visit Oggis.com.
