Student Organization Spotlight: Culinary Food Science Club
The mission of the Culinary and Food Science Club is to celebrate everything to do with food.
The Culinary Food Science Club strives to introduce SDSU to the culinary world and the science behind what makes food. CFSC participates in events that cater to foodies alike such as farmers markets, cooking demonstrations and volunteer opportunities like feeding the homeless and baking at the Ronald McDonald House. In her first year as president of CFSC, Gabrielle Monzon can’t wait to watch the club continue to grow.
What made you want to join this organization?
I am a food and nutrition major and I love food, so I felt like this was a good way for me to get involved with some of the clubs that SDSU has to offer. The events that were planned and organized were exciting things that I never even knew existed in San Diego.
Is your organization open to all majors or is it major specific?
Our organization is open to all majors!
When it comes to finding new members for your organization, what type of students are you looking for?
We are looking for anyone who enjoys being involved in different organizations on campus and who are passionate about food!
When are your meetings?
Our meetings are usually on the last Thursday of each month at 1:30pm in Aztec Mesa 111. There is always free food at each meeting!
Is there a membership fee?
There is a membership fee of $10.
Does your organization have any events coming up?
We will be having an event at the Ocean Beach Farmers Market on November 6th at 6:15pm and a volunteer event with "Embrace" on Nov. 7th from 6-7pm. Our next meeting will actually be a scavenger hunt to explore some of the things on campus that you never knew were there!
