7 Things About Rachel Naval
Rachel Naval is a senior with a passion for Aztec athletics.
Rachel Naval is a senior biology major and active member of SDSU's student section, "The Show."
1. Why did you choose SDSU?
I'm from a small town in Northern California. I wanted to get as far away from home as possible without leaving California. San Diego was always one of my favorite places to visit, so I thought "Why not go there?"
2. What inspired you to declare your major?
I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field somehow. Biology is a way that I can have a variety of options for graduate school. Right now I have my sights set on pursuing pharmacy after I graduate.
3. What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
Whatever path you decide to take, make sure it's for you and not to please anyone else. You need to be selfish sometimes. Never overly selfish, but selfish.
4. What are your future goals?
Right now, my only focus is getting into pharmacy school. Hopefully I can stay in San Diego for it, but wherever this path takes me I kind of have to just run down it and hope for the best.
5. What is the first website you look at every day?
Usually Twitter. All of the interesting sporting news tends to come out on Twitter before anything else. Especially on Mondays — the Top 25 is always out on Twitter before it gets posted anywhere else.
6. What experience at SDSU has changed your life the most?
Probably the time I've spent in The Show. We consider the entire student section at Viejas 'The Show', but the group of friends that I have become closest to over the past few years have allowed me to see how much effort gets put into our obnoxious ways. And it makes me feel very much at home being able to spend my time with people who all share my same interests, and won't look at me like I'm crazy since we are all equally obsessed with Aztec sports.
7. What is the most interesting or surprising thing about you?
I'm one of those crazy people that you'll see waiting for tickets at ungodly hours of the day. Or one of the ones sitting in front of Viejas on game days waiting for the gates to open.
Bonus Questions
1. What was the last movie you saw? Thumbs up or down?
"Thor: the Dark World." It was absolutely amazing. Thumbs up!
2. What city would you like to visit or visit again?
Tuscany. I didn't get to spend much time there when I visited Italy and it was probably the most beautiful place I've ever been to.
3. What kind of music do you listen to/what are your favorite bands?
I listen to pretty much anything. If you put my iPod on shuffle, people get really confused when the genres skip around. But my all-time favorite is country music.
