In an attempt to reduce impacts to the campus during regularly scheduled classes, San Diego State University’s Project Management Office has launched an aggressive schedule of improvement projects this summer.

These projects include several renovation projects within buildings; major excavations to do steam utility infrastructure repairs between Love Library and Hepner Hall and the Geology, Mathematics and Computer Science building; and repairs to X-Lot and Parking Structure 2.

The X-Lot was closed late May and will remain closed through June.

The top levels (5 and 6) of Parking Structure 2, located near the College of Extended Studies, were also closed on May 20 and will remain closed through June.

The entry at level 4 on Lindo Paseo Drive will be closed due to the one way traffic flow of the structure. The exit on level 4 will remain open. The remaining entry at level 1 on Hardy Avenue will be open for all entry in to the structure. Pedestrian traffic on levels 5 and 6 and through the structure will also be impeded.

Traffic control

Additional interruptions to campus traffic flow should be anticipated in the GMCS, Engineering and Facilities Services building areas. This is due to Phase 3 of the Steam Utilities Infrastructure Replacement Project which is now underway. This project is critical to maintaining the main steam distribution system responsible for heating the campus. Additional information about the Steam Utility Infrastructure Repairs Projects can be found here.

This phase of construction is expected to run through August 2014. Between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. a one lane road will be maintained and traffic will be controlled by flagmen.

From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. there will be no flagmen and the single-lane will be available for one-way southbound traffic only.
