The Momentum Continues
SDSU continues to rise on U.S. News and World Reports list of Americas Best Colleges, and is up three spots to No. 149.
San Diego State University continues to move up the ranks as a leading national university according to U.S. News & World Report‘s annual ranking of America’s Best Colleges.
SDSU has been gaining ground over the last five years, moving up 34 spots from No. 183 in 2011 to No. 149 in this year’s list of national universities. SDSU was also ranked once again among the top 100 public schools, moving up three spots to No. 78.
Two of SDSU’s programs ranked among the top 10 most elite in the country: Rehabilitation Counseling at No. 9; and International Business at No. 10.
“On behalf of the entire university, I want to congratulate all of our programs that received national recognition,” said SDSU President Elliot Hirshman. “This recognition reflects the dedication and commitment of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and community supporters.”
Moving on up
SDSU’s rise is the result of the university’s commitment to transformational educational experiences, such as students studying abroad and undergraduate research, as well as its continued improvement in such areas as increased graduation and retention rates and ethnic diversity.
Several of SDSU’s graduate programs ranked in the top 50 nationally including Audiology (No. 27), Clinical Psychology (No. 26), Nursing Midwifery (No. 29), Public Health (No. 30) and Speech Language Pathology (No. 25).
Graduate programs that ranked among the top 100 include psychology (No. 52), health care management (No. 54), social work (No. 60), fine arts (No. 72), public affairs (no. 73), education (No. 74), business (No. 87) and mechanical engineering (No. 88).
Undergraduate programs at SDSU were also ranked including business (No. 73) and engineering (No. 91).
Points of pride
The university was also ranked in the top 20 schools in the nation for ethnic diversity — a point of pride for SDSU, where students from all backgrounds are achieving academic excellence.
U.S. News & World Report also named SDSU one of the top 20 schools for students graduating with the least amount of debt.
