San Diego State University's Office of Residential Education is looking for faculty who are interested in a unique opportunity to live on campus and play an integral role in helping student residents grow and succeed academically.

They are looking for motivated full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty (or equivalent) to participate in the Faculty-in-Residence Program which provides a connection between in-classroom and out-of-classroom learning.

About the program

Faculty the program serve as liaisons between students and faculty and promote the intellectual stimulation of students living on campus. Faculty teach one section of the one-unit University Seminar course and work closely with the Residential Education staff to promote a culture of academic success, diversity and community in the residence halls.

In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes from enriching students' academic experience through programs and events, participants are provided with on-campus housing within the residence halls and a meal plan to increase interactions with students. Appointments are for one year and have a maximum term of three years.

Faculty-In-Residence positions are voluntary, though the estimated annual equivalent value is $15,000 to $18,000. For more information about Residential Education and the on-campus living experience for students, visit the housing website.

Applications are due by Monday, April 27 for consideration. A cover letter stating the applicant's interest and qualifications for the position and full curriculum vitae are required. The cover letter should include examples of the candidate’s experiences mentoring and advising students outside of the classroom and anticipated contributions to the residence hall community.

Decisions are expected to be made by early May with a start date in July. Copies of the cover letter and curriculum vitae should be e-mailed to Kara Bauer or sent to SDSU mail code 1802.
