In case of rain, candidates should arrive to L Lot, across from Parking Structure 4, at least 45 minutes before the processional start time, unless otherwise noted for your college. See college links below.

Once candidates enter through security and show their RedID, they will proceed directly inside Viejas Arena where they will be seated according to their department.

Please note candidates will be unable to bring umbrellas inside the arena due to the limited mobility on the arena floor and potential tripping hazard. However, there will be bins located at the entrance to store umbrellas during the ceremony.

All guests will be allowed to bring umbrellas into the arena, but they cannot be the bigger beach or golf umbrella size.

This month San Diego State University will celebrate Commencement 2015 from May 14 to 17, graduating 9,587 degree candidates.

There will be eight separate ceremonies throughout the weekend, including one at SDSU’s Imperial Valley campus.

Of those graduating, 7,542 will earn bachelor’s degrees from one of SDSU’s eight colleges. This year, 2,034 graduate students will receive master’s degrees and 171 will receive doctoral degrees.

The College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts will hold the largest ceremony honoring 1,880 degree candidates, awarding 1,625 bachelor’s and 255 master’s. The most intimate ceremony is the College of Engineering, with 705 degree candidates — 543 of those will earn bachelor’s degrees, 156 master’s degrees, and six will receive doctorates.

By tradition, SDSU’s Commencement ceremonies include a processional, introductions, awards, speakers and a recessional. Each processional is led by a grand marshal carrying a college banner, followed by faculty marshals in full academic regalia.

Parking and transportation

Ceremonies held at Viejas Arena are expected to fill the 12,000 person capacity, so alternate approaches to campus such as trolley and bus services are recommended.

SDSU will provide courtesy parking in designated parking areas across campus during commencement ceremonies. Special accommodations for disabled parking will also be provided.
