New Faculty: Library and Information Access

In addition to faculty in its seven colleges, San Diego State University also has faculty members in the Department of Library and Information Access. These faculty members call the Love Library home and are a valuable resource for students and faculty across campus.

This semester the library is adding two new faculty members to its team. They are among 53 new faculty joining the SDSU family this fall. 

Anna Culbertson, M.A., M.S.L.I.S. (Long Island University 2009)

Culbertson is a librarian specializing in rare books and special collections. She provides primary source research instruction, collaborates with teaching faculty on book history, printing, and graphic design topics, and curates the library’s speculative fiction and comics arts collections. Her research interests include feminist science fiction and comics, documenting the “gray literature” of the women’s movement, critical librarianship, and ideas of utopia in speculative fiction and alternative religious movements. Prior to joining the library faculty at SDSU, she held positions at the Morgan Library & Museum and New York Public Library’s Berg Collection of English and American Literature. She holds an additional M.A. from City University of New York, Queens College in French.

Zoe Jarocki, M.L.I.S. (University of California, Los Angeles 2010)

Jarocki is the undergraduate success librarian and the subject librarian for Latin American Studies, Chicana and Chicano Studies and Spanish and Portuguese Language and Literature. She coordinates the library’s undergraduate instruction program and provides research assistance and subject instruction for students and does collection development for her subject areas. She is currently active in building cross-border library connections and on the One Book One San Diego committee. Her research interests include information literacy instruction, digital literacy, online pedagogy and outreach to underserved communities.
