SDSU Football Signs 22 to National Letters of Intent
SDSU signs 22 players today to increase the class total to 24 student-athletes.

Two additional football players signed National Letters of Intent to play for San Diego State, head coach Rocky Long announced. The two players - linebacker Kaelin Himphill (Hillsboro, Ore./Liberty HS) and offensive lineman Keith Ismael (Daly City, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) - makes 26 for this year’s signing class, including the two who signed with the Aztecs in December.
San Diego State University head football coach Rocky Long announced the signing of 22 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.Including the two student-athletes who enrolled at SDSU this semester, the total class is comprised of 24 individuals. The class consists of 11 on offense, nine on defense, three “athletes” and one on special teams. The class features athletes from seven different states, with 14 from California, three from Nevada, two from Arizona and Texas, and one each from Florida, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
SDSU is coming off an 11-3 season, including a perfect 8-0 mark in MW play. The Aztecs defeated Air Force, 27-24, on Dec. 5 for its second MW title since 2012, first outright league championship since 1986 and 20th conference crown in program history, and then beat Cincinnati, 42-7, in the Hawai’i Bowl. SDSU’s 11 wins tied a single-season school record and enters 2016 with the second-longest active winning streak in FBS (10 games).
Out of the 22 signees, 18 are out of high school with the other four coming in as college transfers. Additional signees could be added later in the coming days.
Out of the 11 offensive players, the Aztecs inked six on the offensive line - Derrick Achayo (Roseville, Calif./Sierra College), Yasir Durant (Philadelphia/Imhotep Institute), Donnell Greene (Atlanta/Coffeyville CC), Tyler Roemer (Fernley, Nev./Fernley HS), Zachary Thomas (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) and Douglas Tucker II (Dallas/Parish Episcopal HS) - two wide receivers - Isiah Macklin (Las Vegas/Green Valley HS) and Timothy Wilson, Jr. (Plano, Texas/Plano East HS) - two tight ends - Parker Houston (Sparks, Nev./Reed HS) and Kyle Spalding (McKinleyville, Calif./McKinleyville HS) - and one running back - Chase Jasmin (Agoura Hills, Calif./Westlake HS).
On the defensive side of the ball, four are defensive backs - Dwayne Johnson, Jr. (Murrieta HS/Vista Murrieta HS), Keoni Stallworth (Elk Grove, Calif./Consumes Oaks HS), Trenton Thompson (Palm Springs, Calif./Palm Springs HS) and Kyree Woods (Mesa, Ariz./Chandler HS) - three are defensive linemen - Jondarius Gardner (Pensacola, Fla./Mesa CC), Forrest Hanlon (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix HS) and Chibu Onyeukwu (Pittsburg, Calif./Contra Costa College) - and two are linebackers - Troy Cassidy (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) and Dru Mathis (Ventura, Calif./Buena HS).
The three athletes in this year’s class are Parie Dedeaux, Jr. (Los Angeles/Dorsey HS), Tayler Hawkins (Palm Springs, Calif./Palm Springs HS) and Will Stricklin II (San Marcos, Calif./Mission Hills HS).
Spring practice for SDSU begins on Feb. 22 with the spring game set for either March 18 or March 19.
