With the theme of “A World Unraveled,” TEDxSDSU will feature speakers who will share stories such as lessons learned while traveling through Eastern Congo to the discovery of a new non-surgical procedure to treat breast cancer.

San Diego State University’s Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity will host the fifth annual event which will feature six speakers at 12 p.m. on March 6 in Montezuma Hall.

TEDxSDSU is devoted to the notion of “ideas worth spreading.” Alpha Kappa Psi hosts this event annually to expose SDSU students, faculty, staff and the community to new ideas and concepts unraveling in the world around us.

“TEDxSDSU is a place where people can come together to learn about different things going on around the world that they may not have known about otherwise. To hear about things other people are doing in the world is very inspiring. To have something like this in the university setting is very beneficial for students to get motivated for their future and inspired to find ways to impact society,” said Alpha Kappa Psi Vice President of Public Relations Marissa Walsh.

Tickets go on sale online at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. Tickets are $25 and only 100 are available.

The TEDxSDSU experience

The event will feature sponsorship booths including the new social app Zip along with SDSU Business Alumni Network, Souplantation and Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity to give attendees the chance to network.

Attendees will be given TEDxSDSU branded gift bags and will have the opportunity to win raffle items throughout the event. At 2 p.m., there will be an hour break for catered lunch and guest performances. The event will end promptly at 4 p.m. and attendees will have the chance to mingle with speakers and visit booths for 30 minutes.

“We want to make this a very intimate, special and different experience for our attendees, rather than just an event with speakers,” Walsh said.
