Scripps Cottage has more than 80 years of history at SDSU.

Tucked away in a lush garden landscape nestled between historic Hepner Hall and the bustling West Commons sits a historic campus treasure — Scripps Cottage.
The quaint building was donated to San Diego State University in 1931 and was originally used as the headquarters for SDSU's Associated Women Students. These days Scripps Cottage serves as a meeting space and a designated location for campus happenings and special events.
But the beloved cottage has not always been perched by the pond. In fact, Scripps Cottage used to be located where the Love Library stands today. Scripps Cottage was moved to its present location on September 3, 1968.
Scripps Cottage and its surrounding area also serve as a memorial site. The trees neighboring Scripps were planted in memory of SDSU students who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
Today you can find members of the campus community studying, reciting poetry and enjoying the sites surrounding the picturesque cottage.
