With about 400 visits per day, this popular campus spot gives the campus community a chance to make a splash.

The Aztec Recreation Center has been around since 1997, but ten years later, one of its most popular features opened on campus.
In 2007, the Aztec Aquaplex opened for business. Since then, the Aquaplex has an average of 7,000 memberships per year and around 400 visits per day.
The Aquaplex offers several different classes, including swim lessons for all ages and classes students can earn credit for. The facility also welcomes community members and there are several options including day passes, 10-visit passes and Aztec Recreation memberships for adults.
The Aztec Aquaplex features two large, outdoor solar-heated pools, a 20-person spa and two full-service locker rooms. Aztec Recreation members can also access the SDSU tennis courts located next door.
On a sunny afternoon or in-between classes, students are often found sun bathing, or swimming and relaxing in the spa. The Aquaplex even offers an inflatable obstacle course.
Freshman Bernadette Mercer says her favorite part about going to the Aquaplex during her free time is “relaxing on a floaty while hanging out with friends.”
The Aquaplex is like a backyard where people come to hang out and relax. The next time it’s a sunny San Diego day, swing by the Aquaplex and take a dip in the refreshing pool.
