SDSU Continues to Move up in U.S. News Rankings
SDSU has risen 37 spots since 2011 on U.S. News and World Reports list of Americas Best Colleges.
SDSU has been gaining ground over the last five years, moving up 37 spots from No. 183 overall in 2011.
“The recognition from U.S. News and World Report is a testament to the hard work of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and community supporters,” said SDSU President Elliot Hirshman. “Their dedication to this university helps create the high quality educational experiences and outstanding academic programs these rankings recognize.”
Points of pride
The International Business program ranks No. 14, and the overall undergraduate business program ranks No. 77.U.S. News & World Report also named SDSU one of the top 20 national universities for students graduating with the least amount of debt.
In addition, according to the US News Diversity Index, SDSU is among the top 7 in the country for ethnic diversity – a point of pride for SDSU, where students from all backgrounds are achieving academic excellence.
Several SDSU graduate programs rank in the top 50 nationally including Audiology (No. 30), Clinical Psychology (No. 25), Health Care Management (No. 47), Nursing Midwifery (No. 28), Public Health (No. 39), Rehabilitation Counseling (No. 10) and Speech Language Pathology (No. 24).
Graduate programs that rank among the top 100 include Education (No. 69), Civil Engineering (No. 81), Psychology (No. 52), Physical Therapy (No. 79), Social Work (No. 58), Public Affairs (No. 86) and Fine Arts (No. 59).
“SDSU is committed to programs that contribute to student success, including structured advising, study abroad, service learning and undergraduate research,” said Chukuka S. Enwemeka, provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs. “These initiatives are outlined in the university’s strategic plan, Building on Excellence, and the rise in the rankings is proof of the progress that has been made thanks to the plan."
SDSU is listed as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education by the Princeton Review. The university was also recognized as one of the best colleges for LGBT students and received a 2016 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award.
