Decades of Service
Director of Student Health Services Gregg Lichtenstein will retire in early 2017.
Lichtenstein served as staff physician and medical director prior to becoming the department director in 2013.
Prior to joining San Diego State University in 1982, Gregg was medical director of the Sunset Cliffs Family Practice, and served as a physician at the Family Health and Social Service Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Lichtenstein attended Tufts University School of Medicine after graduating from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He later earned an MBA in information systems at SDSU. He also holds a diplomate certification from the American Board of Family Medicine.
“Gregg is highly respected throughout the medical community as a physician and communicator on health matters to professional and lay audiences,” said Eric Rivera, vice president of Student Affairs. “He brought a wealth of expertise as well as a collaborative approach while serving in Student Health Services. The core of Gregg’s work has always been the best interest of students, which is demonstrated by his excellent track record. Gregg’s efforts have led to great outcomes in Student Health Services.”
An interim director for Student Health Services will be announced shortly.
