What has been your proudest achievement while at SDSU?
My proudest achievement has been starting and advising the student organization, Aztec Dance Marathon. We have raised more than $125,000 for patients at Rady Children's Hospital over the past two years. Our goal is to raise $103,000 by this school year's event on Feb. 24, 2017.
What is your favorite thing about this job and working at SDSU?
My favorite thing about this job is the meaningful interactions and dialogue I'm able to have with our diverse student populations. My favorite thing about SDSU is the people I have met.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
The best piece of advice I have received is to let your work and your actions speak for you but always document your accomplishments.
What inspires you to do this kind of work and why is this work important?
I am inspired daily by our students. Working with the diverse student populations on our campus is important work because these are individuals that will influence communities. Their influence will be impacted by their experiences here at SDSU. It is important to provide an enriching, learning, reflective and challenging experience for our students.
What is your kind of music/what are your favorite bands?
Reggae. My dad is from Bermuda, so it’s in my blood. My favorite reggae artists are, of course, Bob Marley, but more unknown might be Morgan Heritage.
What is your favorite sports team or who is your favorite individual athlete?
I am from Michigan so all my favorite sports team are from Detroit: the Lions, Red Wings, Tigers and Pistons. My favorite individual athlete is probably Usain Bolt because I ran track in college.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I try to attend as many live music concerts as possible, play softball, and you'll find me at the Aztec Recreation Center three days a week.
