Student Organization Spotlight: Entrepreneur Society
The SDSU Entrepreneur Society gives members the opportunity to interact with business executives and attend networking events.
Through the Entrepreneur Society, members are able to interact with business executives, attend company tours and networking events, and gain access to job and internship opportunities.
The organization’s president, David Shadi, said the organization has positively affected his time at SDSU in multiple ways. He has made many great friends, attained his job as a marketing associate because of the organization and gained an enormous amount of knowledge from the executives he has interacted with through events.
What was your motivation for joining the Entrepreneur Society?
I had several motivations for joining the Entrepreneur Society. The main one being to get involved on the SDSU campus and to network with hundreds of the most motivated and like-minded individuals on campus.
What has been the highlight of your time with the organization?
The highlight of my time with the Entrepreneur Society has been seeing the growth the organization has gone through in the past three years. In our first two events of the semester, we've had a combined 340 students attend.
Is your organization open to all majors?
Our organization is open to all majors. The biggest misconception about the society is that it is strictly for business and entrepreneur majors, but in reality any student can benefit greatly from joining. We are also collaborating with almost every engineering organization this year to grow our engineer membership base.
When it comes to finding new members for your organization, what type of students are you looking for?
We are looking for motivated students who not only want to be successful but want to learn and become a part of something special.
When are your meetings and is there a membership fee?
The Entrepreneur Society meets at 7 p.m. every Wednesday in Park Boulevard, Room 141 on the first floor of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. The membership fee is $49 for the whole year and includes access to company tours and guest speakers, a Volcom Entrepreneur Society polo, internship and job opportunities, and our membership network, which contains hundreds of the most motivated students on this campus.
What kind of activities does your organization plan/attend?
We host many different types of activities. To name a few, we host high-caliber guest speakers, very useful workshops, tours at Stone Brewing and Petco Park which include a guest speaker from the organization, and philanthropy events.

What impact have SDSU faculty made on your organization?
The SDSU faculty has been a great support system for us and has always been there when we need any help. I want to give a special shout out to our faculty advisor, Bernhard Schroeder, who has put a lot of his own time and effort to make sure we are successful as an organization.
