1. Why did you choose San Diego State University?

I chose San Diego State University because I longed for an environment different than the Bay Area. I was amazed when I first toured the university and completely fell in love with this beautiful campus.

2. What inspired you to declare your major?

I was inspired to declare my major with the help of the wonderful communication department advisers. Everyone that I have met in this department has welcomed me with open arms and truly cares about my undergraduate experience and career path after college. I fell in love with my Communication 103 class that professor Michael Rapp taught my very first semester, and my love for this major and department here on campus has grown immensely since.

3. What is the best piece of advice you ever received?

“The most uncomfortable situations in life hold the greatest potential for growth.”

4. Which SDSU faculty or staff member has been the most influential throughout your SDSU journey?

Steven DiPaolo, Associated Students director of program and marketing, has been the most influential throughout my SDSU journey thus far. He has been not only my adviser, but also a great mentor and friend that I am so grateful to have in my life. Steve challenges my thinking and constantly inspires and pushes me to reach my highest potential.

5. What does student success mean to you?

To me student success means maximizing and optimizing your college experience. San Diego State University offers so many opportunities for you to grow, both professionally and personally, and it is up to you to take a hold of them.

6. What experience at SDSU has changed your life the most?

Joining Associated Students has changed my life the most. I am very passionate about serving as a student leader on this campus and this organization has given me endless opportunities to learn and grow.

7. What has been your proudest achievement while at SDSU?

I am extremely proud of myself for successfully balancing school, work, student organizations, and a social life for the past three years. Despite how busy I am every single day, I strive to always keep a smile on my face and radiate positive energy.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Five years from now, I hope to look back at 20-year-old me, give myself a pat on the back, and be extremely proud of my accomplishments. I envision my life full of opportunity, happiness, and success where I am hopefully working in the marketing department at Google.

9. What’s your favorite thing about being an Aztec?

My favorite thing about being an Aztec is the mentality of Aztecs helping Aztecs. I love and greatly appreciate how alumni are still so connected to SDSU after they graduate. We are truly Aztecs for Life!
