The San Diego State University football team finished the 2016 season ranked 25th in both the Associated Press Top 25 poll and the Amway Coaches Poll. It is just the second time that the Aztecs (11-3) have been ranked in the final AP poll. The first time was in 1977.

SDSU also finished in the Top 25 in the Coaches Poll for the first time since also being ranked 25th in 1986.

In the AP poll, SDSU went from eight points in the final regular-season poll, which was the 34th most, to 113 points in the final poll to make the Top 25. The Aztecs finished 30 points ahead of Kansas State’s 83 points for the final spot, and are just behind No. 21 Louisville (277), No. 22 Tennessee (253), No. 23 Utah (222) and No. 24 Auburn (206).

SDSU was ranked in four of the 16 AP polls on the season, including 22nd on Sept. 18, 19th on Sept. 25, 24th on Nov. 13 and 25th in the final edition.

In the Coaches Poll, SDSU gained 66 points to finish 25th with 102 points. Entering bowl play, the Aztecs had 36 points, which was 31st most. SDSU’s 102 points bettered Nebraska (46) and Kansas State (44) for the final spot in the poll. Just ahead of SDSU is No. 21 Utah (303), No. 22 Auburn (230), No. 23 Miami (229) and No. 24 Tennessee (211).

The Aztecs captured their second straight Mountain West title with a 27-24 win over Wyoming on Dec. 3 in Laramie, Wyo., and downed Houston, 34-10, in the Las Vegas Bowl for their second consecutive bowl win. SDSU tied a school record with 11 victories and now has back-to-back 11-win seasons for the first time in the program’s 94-year history.

SDSU is accepting new account deposits on 2017 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2017 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets online, over the phone by calling 619-283-7378 or by visiting Qualcomm Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT.

SDSU’s non-conference home schedule next year includes games against UC Davis (Sept. 2), Stanford (Sept. 16) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 30). The Aztecs will also play host to Boise State, Fresno State, New Mexico and Nevada in conference games at dates to be determined.
