Imperial Valley Campus Dean Named

Gregorio Ponce was named dean of San Diego State University-Imperial Valley. Ponce has served as interim dean of the campus since Oct. 1, 2015.

Ponce is a native of the Imperial Valley and has been a professor and researcher in the School of Teacher Education since 2003. He received his B.A. and M. A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, in 1986 and 1989, respectively. He earned his Ed.D. in Education Leadership from the University of San Diego in 2001.

"I'm very excited for this opportunity to serve the needs of the people of Imperial Valley," Ponce said. "I look forward to connecting with our alumni, the business community and the public to help our institution and students move forward."

In 2008, Ponce received the SDSU Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributions for the Imperial Valley Campus.
