SDSU Grad Programs Ranked Among Nation's Best

Several SDSU programs were recognized in U.S. News & World Reports Americas Best Graduate Schools 2018.

SDSU’s graduate programs in education and aerospace engineering are ranked among the nation’s best in the latest U.S. News & World Report issue of America’s Best Graduate Schools.

SDSU’s College of Education ranked No. 57 in the nation among all universities and No. 39 among public universities, making it the highest ranked graduate-level education program in San Diego and 8th in California. The college's online master’s degree program also ranked among the best at No. 22 in the nation.

"We take very seriously our responsibility to educate and prepare future educators, counselors, school psychologists, and leaders," said Joseph Johnson, dean of the College of Education. “This commitment motivates us to work diligently to pursue meaningful scholarship, teaching, and service. In no small part, the increase in rankings was influenced by our faculty's strong productivity in research grants and publications."

SDSU’s aerospace engineering program in the College of Engineering ranked No. 37 in the nation and No. 7 in California among all universities.

"This ranking shows that our aerospace engineering program enjoys an excellent reputation on the national stage," said Monte Mehrabadi, dean of the College of Engineering. "Many SDSU aerospace engineering graduates have gone on to take leadership roles in government and industry."

Other graduate programs currently ranked in the top 25 include rehabilitation counseling (No. 10), speech and language pathology (No. 24), and clinical psychology (No. 25).

Programs ranked in the top 50 include nursing midwifery (No. 28), audiology (No. 30), public health (No. 39) and healthcare management (No. 47). Those ranked in the top 100 include psychology (No. 52), social work (No. 58), fine arts (No. 59), physical therapy (No. 79), public affairs (No. 86), computer engineering (No. 86) and the part-time MBA program (No. 95).

Last year, in the U.S. News & World Report annual ranking of America’s Best Colleges, SDSU ranked No. 74 among public universities and No. 146 overall among national universities, moving up 37 spots since 2011.
