Three National Awards for KCR College Radio

SDSUs student-run radio station won big at the 2017 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Golden Microphone Awards.

KCR College Radio, San Diego State University’s student-run radio station, won three golden microphones at the 2017 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Awards in New York City.

KCR College Radio won IBS Golden Microphones for Best Station Manager in the Nation, Best Play-by-Play for Baseball and Best Comedy Program (Video). KCR was a finalist in seven other categories, including Best Streaming Station and Best News Feature Story.

"For myself, the award sort of validates what I've done as general manager,” said Matt Hoffman, general manager of KCR. “It was an honor to have my efforts recognized. Winning the baseball category for a second straight year shows our commitment to live SDSU sports broadcasts, and with KCR expanding more into video this year, it was nice to be recognized for Jack Sellas and Tessa LaMunyon's weekly video series for best comedy program.”

KCR College Radio has earned 10 IBS Golden Microphones since entering the IBS Awards in 2014, including the 2016 Abraham and Borst Award for Best College Station in the Nation.
