SDSU Set to Host NCAA Tournament
Viejas Arena will host the first and second rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tournament this weekend.
San Diego State University will play host to eight of the top men's basketball programs at Viejas Arena for the first and second rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Four first-round games will be played on Friday, March 16 followed by two second-round contests on Sunday, March 18.
From the East bracket, No. 4 Wichita State (25-7) faces No. 13 Marshall (24-10), who is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 31 years after winning the Conference USA Tournament. The winner of that game will advance to take on the winner of No. 5 seed West Virginia (24-10) and No. 12 seed Murray State (26-5), the Ohio Valley Conference Champion, which will take place after the conclusion of the Wichita State-Marshall game.
Out of the Midwest bracket, SDSU is hosting another set of 5-12 and 4-13 match-ups. No. 4 seed Auburn (25-7), who is heading the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003, draws the No. 13 seed Charleston (26-7), the winner of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. No. 5 Clemson (23-9) then faces off against No. 12 New Mexico State (28-5), champions of the Western Athletic Conference.
Sunday features second-round action with the two winners from the East Region and Midwest Region squaring off against one another in their respective brackets.
A limited number of All-Session bench seats are available for $240. All fans require a ticket for entry regardless of age and no re-entry is permitted at Viejas Arena.
The NCAA men's basketball championship is returning to Viejas Arena for the first time since 2014. SDSU is one of eight sites around the country and the only location in the Pacific Time Zone to play host to the first two rounds in 2018.
