Aztec Recreation Offers Family Fun Throughout Summer

Swimming lessons, watersports camps and bowling are among the many family-friendly activities and youth programs Aztec Recreation at San Diego State University offers for community members to enjoy during the summer months.

Summer membership to the Aztec Aquaplex for community members of all ages is available May 14 through Aug. 24, 2018. Youth memberships can be added to existing or new Aztec Recreation adult all-inclusive memberships for a one-time fee of $49. Youth are granted access to the Aquaplex, tennis and racquetball courts as well as the Aquaplex inflatable obstacle course during programmed times. Family swim hours are offered seven days per week during the summer months.

Lessons are also available at the Aquaplex during the summer for all ages. Lessons for adults are available whether you are a novice swimmer or preparing for a triathlon. For children, the Aquaplex lesson schedule has many options of days and time to match your schedule. Private and group swim lessons are available.

Watersports camps

The Watersports Camp is an unparalleled opportunity for youth in San Diego. More than 2,400 kids enjoy summer watersports camps at Mission Bay Aquatic Center every year with weekly sessions in wakeboarding, surfing, sailing, kayaking, stand up paddling, windsurfing, intro to watersports, and marine science.  For more information about the Watersports Camp, visit watersportscamp.com or call 858-539-2003.

Aztec Recreation Center

Adult membership to the Aztec Recreation Center is available for community members 18 years of age and older for $139. The all-inclusive membership remains valid thought Aug. 24 and provides a wide range of facility and activity access, including  from weight training, cardio exercising, swimming, bowling and a variety of group fitness classes. The ARC is open seven days per week and 24 hours on weekdays throughout summer.

Bowling

Registered children, ages 12 and under, receive two free games of bowling every day through Aug. 19, at Aztec Lanes. Bowling shoe rental is not included and advance registration is required. Aztec Lanes has lightweight bowling balls, automatic bumpers and bowling ramps for children. For adults and youth age 13 and over, bowling is an Aztec Recreation membership benefit. Membership is one option for bowling, but is not required for Aztec Lanes. The facility is open to the community, and anyone can bowl and pay per game.
