San Diego State football head coach Rocky Long announced the hiring of Brady Hoke as defensive line coach.   A familiar face at SDSU, Hoke compiled a 13-12 record in two seasons as head coach for the Aztecs in 2009 and 2010. Most recently, he coached the defensive line for the NFL's Carolina Panthers during the 2018 campaign.   In his second season at SDSU, Hoke guided the Scarlet and Black to a 9-4 record, punctuated by its first bowl game appearance in 12 years and its first postseason victory since 1969 – a convincing 35-14 triumph over Navy in the SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl – to earn Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year honors.   A former assistant at Michigan, Hoke headed back to take over the head coaching reins with the Wolverine program for four years, posting a 31-20 record to go with a trio of bowl berths from 2011-14.   After directing Michigan to an 11-2 record in 2011 capped by a victory in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, Hoke collected the inaugural Hayes-Schembechler Coach of the Year award from the Big Ten Conference coaches while garnering Dave McClain Coach of the Year accolades from the Big Ten media. He was named the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year that season and was a finalist for three other national coach of the year honors: Bear Bryant, Eddie Robinson and Liberty Mutual.   Following his tenure in Ann Arbor, Hoke also completed one-year stints as defensive coordinator at Oregon (2016) and as defensive line coach at Tennessee (2017), where he also served as interim head coach of the Volunteers for the final two games of the regular season.   San Diego State finished the 2018 campaign with a 7-6 record, highlighted by wins over No. 23/25 Arizona State and No. 24 Boise State. The Aztecs, who return their leading passer, Ryan Agnew, rusher Juwan Washington and tackler Kyahva Tezino from a year ago, are one of only 14 teams to make a bowl game in nine consecutive seasons.   SDSU is accepting new account deposits on 2019 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2019 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling 619 283-7378, or by visiting SDCCU Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
