National recording artist DeWayne Woods will perform at SDSU's first Super Sunder Gospel Fest.
San Diego State University’s first Super Sunday Gospel Fest on Sunday, Feb. 24, will showcase national recording artist DeWayne Woods, Chicago-based singer Jessica A. Clements and 11 gospel choirs and dance teams from campus and the San Diego community.
The free concert begins at 7 p.m. in Montezuma Hall of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. There will be free parking available on the night of the event.
Super Sunday Gospel Fest will be preceded by an educational resource fair for K-12 students and their families from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the union courtyard. University representatives and current students will provide information and resources on financial aid, admissions, student organizations and other topics.
“We are excited to welcome many of the younger members of our community and their families to campus this Sunday,” said Christy Samarkos, interim vice president for Student Affairs. “Through this exciting inaugural event, we want to encourage the young people in attendance to envision themselves as future university students – either here at SDSU or at another institution.”   The Super Sunday Gospel Fest and Resource Fair is part of systemwide efforts by California State University to partner with faith-based leaders in February on community events. The goals are to encourage K-12 students to pursue higher education, to highlight the CSU’s Graduation Initiative 2025 – designed to eliminate achievement gaps – and to recognize Black History Month. Super Sunday Gospel Fest is supported both by SDSU and the CSU.
Ticket pickup for Super Sunday Gospel Fest is available at Viejas Arena. SDSU students should visit the Information Desk on the first floor of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.
