SDSU Community Members, Alumni and Future Students Invited to Explore SDSU
SDSU hosts the annual Explore SDSU all-campus open house March 23.
San Diego State University will host its annual all-campus open house, Explore SDSU, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. The event offers new students, families, alumni and the campus community an opportunity to learn about the university and its programs.
Explore SDSU offers a 400-booth campus-wide information fair, campus tours, open facilities and residence halls and academic and student life workshops that provide an overview of life as an SDSU Aztec.
“Explore SDSU is our opportunity to showcase all that makes our university unique,” said Matthew Hebert, director of Student Recruitment and School Relations. “It really is the one day a year that any future student, alumni, or community member can come to campus to learn about all the different majors we have to offer and to tour many of our state-of-the-art facilities.”
Something for everyone
Open houses and tours of campus facilities will introduce attendees to the variety of quality departments and programs at SDSU. Campus visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at science and engineering labs and projects, art galleries, residence halls and the KPBS studios.
Highlights of Explore SDSU include numerous SDSU Library exhibits, the Nursing Simulation Lab and Donald P. Shiley BioScience Center, the Engineering and interdisciplinary Sciences facility, cultural resource centers and Air Force ROTC Flight Simulator. Visitors are also welcome to attend an unveiling presentation of a mural originally painted in the 1940s by an SDSU student and World War II veteran.
In addition to free concerts and musical performances, visitors can purchase tickets to the School of Theatre, Television and Film’s stage production of “Hookman.” Throughout the day there will be performances across campus from the SDSU Community Music School, the Super Sonic Samba School and the SDSU Band. The Don Powell Theatre will also be playing a number of short student films throughout the day.
SDSU Athletics will also host the Aztec Football Spring Game on their practice fields. This is an opportunity for students, alumni and community members to experience SDSU Athletics and tour the facilities.
