SDSU Selected as Finalist for Seal of Excelencia
The certification recognizes higher education institutions effectively preparing Latino students for success.
Finalists are specifically selected for their alignment of data and practice in serving Latino students, strategies and practices that have been institutionalized in serving Latino students, and evidence of effectiveness and intentionality in institutional practices.
“This is an incredible honor for our campus. We are proud to work at a Hispanic-Serving Institution, it's even more important to know that we have laid the foundation to truly serve our nation’s fastest growing population,” said Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion, Luke Wood.
SDSU is among 20 finalists across the nation. Among the 20, SDSU is one of four California State University (CSU) campuses recognized, joining CSU Channel Islands, CSU Monterey Bay and CSU San Bernardino.
Excelencia in Education, whose goal is to drive change in higher education to better serve Latino students, will announce the official seal recipients during a ceremony on June 20 in Washington, D.C.
