I Am SDSU campaign

San Diego State University is formally relaunching its “I Am SDSU” campaign, which affirms the university’s impact, value and commitment to the San Diego region and beyond. The campaign recognizes all members of the SDSU community and their unified connection to SDSU. All SDSU community members – both on and off campus – are encouraged to participate.

Here’s how to get involved:

Support Scholarships with a Scarf

Red and black “I Am SDSU” scarves, which were first distributed last fall, continue to be available for purchase through the SDSU Bookstore. The popular items are not only a physical symbol of Aztec pride but make a philanthropic statement as $8 of every $10 scarf purchase supports student veteran scholarships.

Share Your Photos

Share your Aztec pride photos on social media using the hashtag #IAMSDSU – even better if you’re wearing your I Am SDSU scarf. Or feel free to submit your images to SDSU’s Strategic Communications and Public Affairs team using the upload link.

Recent Accomplishments

In the past year, SDSU has enjoyed great success:

  • More than 300 SDSU investigators received 786 grants in 2018-19 amounting to $148.5 million — the second-highest amount in university history and a 10% increase over the previous year, indicating our continued commitment to and excellence in research.
  • SDSU Imperial Valley is seeing record enrollments and, this fall, began offering a full-time undergraduate degree again to full-time freshmen.
  • SDSU also raised nearly $116 million in gifts during the 2018-19 fiscal year, a significant increase from just over $83 million in 2017-18.

SDSU is launching one of the most important and ambitious initiatives in its recent history with the launch of the campuswide strategic planning process. Involving students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and general community members, the process will inform the development of SDSU’s new mission, vision and strategic priorities. The campus has been invited to attend a Sept. 23 kickoff event and three days of discussion group sessions.
