The San Diego City Council on Monday voted unanimously to move forward with the process that will allow San Diego State University to purchase the Mission Valley stadium site. The university intends to build a world-class campus, new multi-use stadium, and a much-anticipated community river park. SDSU President Adela de la Torre issued the following statement:
“SDSU Mission Valley is one of the most meaningful San Diego milestones of the 21st century. I want to thank Mayor Kevin Faulconer, members of the council, and city staff for their continued engagement. This project will help shape our 122-year-old university and our region for the next 100-plus years.
SDSU looks forward to cooperating with the city to draft a comprehensive purchase and sale agreement in a timely manner so that it can be considered by the CSU Board of Trustees and San Diego City Council in early 2020.”
